How do I copy Vista without CD?
I have a desktop computer that I bought from a previous owner. It already had Windows Vista on it but I don't have the CD. Nor does the previous owner. I would like to back up a copy of it on a cd in case I need it later if I have any computer problems. Is there a way of doing it? Also, would the product key be anywhere in the files?

all black and make it wider as to fit my desktop better. I've tried making the canvas size bigger but cannot figure out how to fill the spot on the canvas that has that grey checkerboard canvas thing with the Black from the picture. I have tried rectangle selecting from the image and moving it over but the selection is invisible. I tried the bucket fill tool but i am just not able to get anything to work in the area that i have expanded the canvas. Please help

Why is my mom being so nice to me?
It sounds like she thinks that by buying you all those things, it will show you that she's sorry and she really cares about you. But I think if she really wants to prove that, she needs to do that by actually telling you that, not giving you material things.
Is it safe to hook up a "shelf stereo system" to my desktop computer ?

Windows 7 Recovery stuck at "Setup is Applying System Settings"?
I got a new Gateway computer for Christmas. I burned some recovery disks just in case. Today I downloaded a virus. When I opened the virus it disappeared out of the folder it was in and then I got the Blue Screen of Death. Great, right? Anyway, when I try to start the computer, it goes to the blue screen just as the desktop opens. I figured the virus just deleted some system files so I popped in the recovery disks and chose the option to back up all other files so that I wouldn't lose anything when I restored the system files. Now the computer seems to be hung at "Setup is applying system settings". Is there something wrong or does this process usually just take forever?

Does anyone know how to restore files on a comp that are vital to it's ablity to work? It starts fine, I get to the blue Windows XP screen that shows up before the profiles but it stays on that. I have money, I just need to know what to do: buy the xp restore cd or send it to my super smart brother on the other side of the country? I tried safe start, I tried system restore, I have norton 360 but it's been offline for ages. It has 32 viruses but I can't remember all of them. Alot of trodgians, though. But it's been offline. I recently installed Audacity from my flashdrive, but I very much believe it is legit. I ran a defragment and a disk sweep on it and I think that's where it all happened. Just, I know there is alot to ask, and I'm willing to converse about it. I want to fix this comp, I don't want to have to buy a new one. I have money to fix it, not to replace it. I know it can be saved. I just need to either know should I send it from Pensacola Florida to Wenatchee Washington. He will fix for free but my dad doesn't want to pay the postage (which is why i want to pay for it) and he thinks it's a simple fix, that a cd he bought called Mechanic or whatever it is (it a legit windows cd he got from walmart). Right now it's a question of should I send it or learn a lesson and fix it myself?

Files on outside of desktop..?
I opened a rar of some photos I had taken and accidentally extracted them to the desktop. There were about 150 of them and only some of them appeared on the desktop screen. So, are they like on the outside of the desktop and I can't reach them? Or did the desktop only extract enough to fit on the visible screen? Please help!!!

I was installing an aftermarket cd player in my friend's 2001 Dodge Stratus and when everything was done the stereo didn't work...so I tried my brand new stereo...same thing, nothing worked. so we installed the stock stereo again and guess what? NOTHING!! Please help!! I checked the fuses for the radio and they were both fine, the only thing that does work is the buttons light up on the stock stereo.

I am 28 years old and I have been thru so much bad stuff . Ive been severely neglected and no one was there for me for most of my life . I have been abused over and over again . When I was younger some of my family members were very mean and cruel to me . My dad is dead & my mom left me but she raised my younger siblings together . My step grandmom & grandpop raised me but they were never there for me emotionally . My step grandmom used to touch me alot on my butt and sometimes she touched my privates but she said she was tickleing me . I was around 5 years old and this went on for years . I asked her to stop but she didn't . It really affected me and I was sexually active when I was being touched by her around five years old . it ****** up my personality and I rebelled and I was very mean . Ppl made fun of me bc I was sexually active that young . my moms twin used to abuse me and I always told my step grandmom but she never did or said anything . My aunt is 19 years older than me but she used to always try to fight me I was like nine to twelve years old . She would try to fight me over my own things or toys or even cds . No one cared . I have too much anger bc its much worse than this but I don't have the space . No one protected me and I never felt loved by anyone only my real grandmom on my dads side but she died and thats when I started self mutilating att age 11 but no one noticed only one of my teachers but she thought I was fighting and I got in trouble bc I didn't tell her the truth . I want to get over this and try to be happy but it seems impossible . What can I do ? Ive been in psychotherapy for many , many years but it helps me to remember things that I made myself forget .
How can i help my younger brother?
My younger brother plays call of duty chronically. After school and for 4+ hours when he doesn't have school. What seems to be happening now is that he curses and trash talks people with a mic and i think is somewhat of an online bully now. He used to be very social but now when i get home i usually see him bad mouthing another player on call of duty. When hes on he plays with his friends from school in a clan and they talk crap at everyone they play with, even before they say anything. This doesn't sound like a problem you can fix yourself. A question you should ask yourself is whether you have edited any system files. Another problem could be you have a virus. I would recommend taking it to a computer shop.

i was wondering if there is a fast way to down tune your string. Like is there a tuner out there that shows the note that the string is tuned on.I ask this because when i play adams song by blink 182 i have to down tune the strings. But for one of the strings i need to tune it to a C but when i'm down tuning the string my tuner doesn't say when it's on C it will just skip the letter and will let me know when its tuned to a D thats why i have to try to get it in the middle where it does not show D or B it is just blank on the screen that's when i know that it's tuned to a C will a chromatic tuner be helpful when downtuning or is there something better out there?

In order to do what you are asking you will most likey need a server and the thingamajig your are talking about is called a KVM switch. But usually most people use a KVM switch for connecting a mouse keyboard and monitor to two or more computers. I have 3 PC's but just one mouse keyboard and monitor. I said server because most PC's lack the power to 2 or 3 people working on them at the same time plus you would need a video card that would support two monitors.

Macbook time macine drive wont be recognized?

Took my hard drive out and ran a drive repair useing my laptop and then replaced the drive and drivers are out?
My harddrive was acting funny and seemed like it had a problem that my desktop couldnt repair so i bought a hookup that i could hook to the the harddrive and them to my laptop. I ran the disk rapir that was on my laptop and it seemed to fix the problem. When i put the harddrive back in it says my date and time isnt set and it has a F-1 boot on the screen, when i hit F-1 it boots and starts normally. After it is all loaded up the "found new hardware wizard" come up and says its trying to install the ethernet controller when i hit next it says the wizard couldnot find the software. When i hit the start button and look at all the programs they all show that they are newly installed.Please help if you can, thank you

My HP Laptop with XP doesnt show the desktop menu on booting?
Restart the laptop and boot in Safe Mode with networking by tapping on F8 once you see the HP logo. Try to do a System Restore to an earlier date.
Photo wont show on usb on other machines?
Can someone plz help solve a printing problem. trying to get a photo printed on the asda machines,. have tried 2 USB sticks and a CD aswell as jpeg and .bmp formats, the photo is not in a folder. asda machine keeps saying theres no photo in the device. the machine definitely works cos the asda guy put his own usb in it to check it.copied pic to phone -didnt work. every photo on phone worked except the one we want. its definitely jpeg.. asda said they only do jpeg. tried saving the photo direct from facebook onto desktop then copying to the usb. tried taking a screenshot of the photo and saving as jpeg. nothing works. even the bloke at asda is baffled. everytime we try something the machine says theres no photo in the device but when we try the usb in other laptops or at other more expensive printing shops it works. Unable to open internet using any web browser even though the laptop shows "excellent" connectivity?

Unless you know the model of the motherboard and look up the manual to see what options are available, the only way you'll know is to go into BIOS Setup and have a look. It probably wouldn't even be possible to tell you based on the motherboard manufacturer because they may not have the same settings available on all their motherboards; I have ONE Dell computer that I can't force to stay powered off after a blackout and we have had about 4 different Dell models so as you see, standardisation isn't complete.

What is happening to my computer?
It freezes a lot. It's a late model Dell deskop with a duo core and a fair amount of memory. 63 processes typically run. The commit charge usually says something like 500M/2500M, but the CPU usage rockets to 100% and locks up. Even when I have nothing open. I have cleaned the desktop, the registry and defragged. I run up to date Norton. How do I stop this from locking up 2 or 3 times per day?

I have a 520 w "shelf stereo" system ( a main tower w/ 2 speaker towers) it has a aux mp3 jack in the front and I was wondering if I could connect a headphone aux cable from it to my computer? I did not know if it would blow the sound card of if it would be fine?
Computer is loading slowly?
When I turn my laptop on, it takes almost 10 minutes for the icons and start button to appear. The only thing I can see is my desktop background photo and that is it. When I try a system restore to previous dates, it always says it is unsuccessful. Just wondering what my options are in solving this problem. Thanks a lot.
Learning to play guitar HELP! :D?
well you can start off practicing on easy chords like E minor and G. I play guitar too and it takes A LOT of work to be good at it just keep practicing and dont give up just go a step at a time dont rush into it. If you need help with chords try going on youtube or something and type in how to play the E minor chord and they can teach you and start off from there and then learn the g chord or the C chord and practice switching chords. the thing with chords is you have to practice them a lot so your fingers get used to going there and then switching from one chord to another its just practice and patience. dont give up!
I can't get Silent Hill 3 to work on Windows 7!?
Okay so recently I downloaded the Silent Hill 3 demo onto my windows 7 laptop to see if it would work. At first it wouldn't run but my friend fixed it by right clicking the shortcut to SH3 on my desktop and going to Properties, then to compatibility and changing the settings to make it run in compatibility mode for windows 98 and checking the boxes for it to run in 256 colors and in 640 x 480 resolution. It worked and I was so pleased I decided to get my hands on the full version. I have it now but it won't run even though I followed the steps my friend took to make the demo run. My screen just goes black, then all magnified and strange colored and then black again and back to my normal desktop. Any suggestions on how to make it work? Any help is greatly appreciated as I've wanted to play this game for ages now!

Problems after switching motherboards?
Ok, here is the issue, I was told my old motherboards composite wires were going out soon and that I had to replace the motherboard. I took an old motherboard that I had and replaced it. I am having issues booting up windows. It gives me the normal options such as starting in safe mode or normally. But when I choose these options the computer just stops and goes blank. After this problem I put my windows cd inside my dvd drive to redo windows. But I cant boot from it. I cant set the drive priority to dvd either. Pllease help.

Photo wont show on usb on other machines?
Can someone plz help solve a printing problem. trying to get a photo printed on the asda machines,. have tried 2 USB sticks and a CD aswell as jpeg and .bmp formats, the photo is not in a folder. asda machine keeps saying theres no photo in the device. the machine definitely works cos the asda guy put his own usb in it to check it.copied pic to phone -didnt work. every photo on phone worked except the one we want. its definitely jpeg.. asda said they only do jpeg. tried saving the photo direct from facebook onto desktop then copying to the usb. tried taking a screenshot of the photo and saving as jpeg. nothing works. even the bloke at asda is baffled. everytime we try something the machine says theres no photo in the device but when we try the usb in other laptops or at other more expensive printing shops it works. How can i transfer my ipod touch songs from my ipod to the computer?
Well recently my computer crashed with all my songs and my old itunes. I reset it and had to get the new itunes version. Now i can't transfer my songs and i'm switching my ipod with a another friend of mine and i want all my songs. But every program i try i have to pay for and i'm not working right now. Computer boots but monitor won't turn on?
My husband tried adding a video card to his desktop (Gateway E2500). When we plugged everything back up and turned on the computer, there was smoke coming from the top of the motherboard. We can see visible damage about two inches long and no wider than dental floss. The computer still boots up after we removed the graphics card, however the monitor will not show a picture. We plugged it up to our other computer and it works fine. On the computer that was smoking, the monitor light is on (orange), but never come completely on (green). Any suggestions?

Sound like you need a "do over". When you get to the installation part where you need to install windows then you need to hit "D" to delete the partition. Then Hit "C" to create a partition in the unformatted space. Then format the the partition NTFS. At this point you can reinstall the system. Make sure you are plugged in this time. Good luck.

NBA 2K11 My Player!! NEED HELP!!?
I make a player and he is a 6'6'' shooting guard. He is about 41 overall. In the draft combine games i can never get the above C+ teammate grade. How do i get that?? Also I tried a different person earlier but didnt go how i wanted so i deleted him but on it i got drafted in the second round and in the summer curcuit games i thought i did pretty good but then i was in the D-League. It's like the Black Plague just came and swept over my laptop!! My daughter had been messing around with the keys and the next thing i know, everything is WingDing Fonts! How to keep my inspiration level up for next year and half of basketball?
so, im a junior right now. i've played since i've been in 2nd grade. i used to be so much better and love it much more and even be like the total star of my rec team when i was little, but then this thing happened o me in 6th grade, and i ended up in a coma for a few weeks then a bunch of hospital time to come out from that ect. it messed up everything. the pills that they had me on at first made me gain tons of weight. im now like 170, and that's after me working on it for a while. i was like way up at 190. im hoping to work like 10x harder and ose some more for senior year but any way. because this whole thing brought up my weight and down my speed and ability, my basketball career went totally down the drain. so, i still made my hs team, but im definitely not that great of a player. i even thought of giving up at the beginning of this year because i didn't think was good enough. but i managed to get past that, but i still wasn't having that much fun. ...now, im not that much of a miley cyrus fan, but last night, i heard this song, i'll always remember you by her, and it just put this vision in my mind of my senior night next year, and i took a minute and realized that its come down to this, and sadly i only have one and a half years left of basketball to play in my life. it sorta made me cry. but, now im thinking, from now till the end, i just gotta give it my all to have the best rest of my career possible. how can i keep this in my mind the whole time im on the court? because i don't want something bad to happen and get me down. i want to be able to give it my best 100% of the time because ....i realized im almost done. ....is there something good i could write on my shoes or something? or any other sort of ideas?

A home server desktop that can also serve as a desktop computer?
I am looking for a Desktop which is a server and has the capability to run standard OS such as windows, linux, etc at different instances. I also would like for this uber box to have the ability for multiple laptops to connect with it via wireless with limited capability to back log your data and access to specified folders. Server access would require you to log directly into the box as a server, but also this can be also used as a standard desktop with $ROOT name being the administrator and $USER names only access to desktop.
My computer's messed up.?
What i mean is: i recently downloaded the popular game "downloader" steam, from the game developer Valve. after 2 hours of finding something to download, downloading the demo, and realizing my computer didnt have the right qualifications for it i deleted the demo and steam itself. i was told i would have to restart my computer after the removal so i did. after rebooting the computer and putting in my password, the desktop loaded up. well it should have loaded up. instead, it just showed the wallpaper without ANY icons or the start menu/bar at the bottom. after 3 or 4 seconds a window appeared which showed all of my folders and other things that i would be able to access through my icons. on the desktop clicking does nothing, left or right. i have looked through every option i can think of. i plan i taking it to best buy to get it checked out soon. i figured id try the community before i spent my money. any suggestions would be nice.

Alien ware wireless not working please help?
well my computer was working fine till a friend tried to get Warcraft 3 on my alien ware m17x for free ( i was sleeping) and he messed something up and tried to do system restore with the alien ware windows 7 cd that came with the laptop so it ended up deleting everything. well the problem is that i put in the m17x resorce dvd with all the ddrivers and i cant get the wireless working it only works on wired

It would work if your computer can boot from the sd card and you know all the files that need to be deleted. Not all computers can boot from a sd card.

I'm on my third power supply to an HP Pavilion desktop. I bought the tower as a refurb about 2 years ago. The problems I've had was that it didn't start when I went to power up, so I've been taking it back to the guy I bought it from, and unfortunately, the only local comp repair guy. He charges me about $100 to install a new PS, so I've just been leaving the power on all the time to try to avoid the power surges of turning it on and off. It's been on for a month now, but it's now making a very high-pitched sound. If that is the only disc that it does that to, then I would say the disc is a bad video transfer that the player has issues reading. Workout videos most likely would not fall into the same quality of transfer like the movie Avatar would. They were made on a budget & contracted to have the transfer to disc done by any fly by night video production company. Just a guess.

First your mac probably doesn't need AV. Second what you opened is a disc image. Just drag Firefox from there to Applications or your desktop. That's it you are done installing.
