Webcam problems, please help?

Hi, I have a mac desktop with a built in webcam. The computer is a couple years old, and recently the webcam stopped working with a lot of applications. It only works with photo booth. It doesn't work with applications like yahoo messenger or skype. Does anyone know how to fix this?
